Service Projects
🐄 GoMatha Seva Project
Every Saturday / Sunday
Volunteers collect unsellable produce from local Indian grocery stores and deliver it to a nearby cow sanctuary to feed rescued cattle.
🏠 SAI – Shelter Adoption Initiative (SAFE House)
Volunteers place weekly online grocery orders for delivery to the SAFE House .
📚 Book Adoption & Braille Access (BABA) Project
Volunteers help convert scanned books into digital text for Audio readers and Braille conversion. This provides accessible reading material to the visually impaired.
🍽️ St. John’s Shelter & The Gathering Inn – Dinner Service
The Gathering Inn: 1st Sunday of every month
St. John’s Women’s Shelter: 3rd Saturday of every month
The Sai Center volunteers prepare and serve a 5-course dinner at each location.
🥫 Canned Food Collection for Local Food Bank (Ongoing – Donation drop-off anytime)
A collection bin is located near Ganesha inside the center.
On the 4th Saturday of every month, collected items are donated to the Folsom Twin Lakes Food Bank.

1st & 3rd Thursday at 7:00 PM
Hands-on creative service including:

Making woolen caps for infants, children, and adults

Making lap blankets for patients in wheelchairs

Writing letters of comfort to cancer patients
🥪 Sandwich Project
Every Saturday at 9:00 AM
Providing around PB&J snack bags to underprivileged children. Snack bags support kids who have limited meals on weekends.

Peanut-allergy-safe bags are prepared separately

Volunteers deliver the bags to a Sacramento organization
💻 Computer Tutoring (On Hold)
1st & 3rd Saturdays at 9:30 AM
Volunteers teach basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, internet navigation, job applications, rental applications) to women at St. John’s Women’s Shelter.
These skills empower students to gain independence, confidence, and employment.
🎒 Operation Backpack
Through Operation Backpack, in partnership with Volunteers of America, the Sai Center donates 200+ filled backpacks each year, helping underprivileged children start the school year feeling included and supported.
🧣 Blanket & Coat Distribution
Sai Seva Sadan collects clean, gently used coats, jackets, scarves, gloves, hats, boots, blankets, and sleeping bags for our community outreach program. These items are distributed to the homeless population in downtown Sacramento.
🎁 Toy Drive
A seasonal Toy Drive is conducted for children in receiving homes. Volunteers donate new gifts for boys and girls. Even one gift per person helps put a smile on a child’s face. The goal is to bring joy to as many children as possible each season.
🩺 Health Care Kits
Volunteers collect items to assemble care kits for those in need. Volunteer come to the center to assemble each kit which contains essential personal care items which are then distributed around Sacramento.
